Our strategies and policies on safety and on ways to safeguard human life and to protect and respect the environment, from July 2003, were translated in a System of Integrated Management named SQE (Safety, Quality and Environment).
This system, already in compliance with the ISM Code (International Safety Management Code), has now been certified according to the following international standards:

for the Management of Health and Safety in the Workplace. |

We have taken other aspects from national and international regulations and added them to our integrated system:
- the Legislative Decree 271/99 concerning the adaptation of the regulations for health and safety of seamen working on board merchant ships
- the Legislative Decree 81/2008 concerning health and safety in the workplace
- the Legislative Decree 155/97 to implement the HACCP approach of risk prevention as regards the safety of food products
- the ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code). We were amongst the first Italian companies to acknowledge it, and we have collaborated effectively to set up a Security Plan for national ships.

The SQE system has enabled us to set up a unified approach to our management system, yet at the same time we have been able to take into account the specific, individual needs of the various sectors and exploit the possible synergies to their best advantage.
Continual monitoring, scrupulous internal inspections, a detailed analysis of the data collected and a rapid implementation of corrective actions of improvement have enabled us to continually enhance our corporate performance in terms of safety, customer satisfaction and environmental protection.
